Spurs star Gareth Bale is too expensive, says Real Madrid legend Raul

Legendary Real Madrid striker Raul has indicated that he believes his former club is being asked to pay over the odds for Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

The 24-year-old is widely expected to move to the Bernabeu this summer, but Raul has expressed his concern about the transfer fees being quotes.

He told the official website of his current club, Qatari side Al Sadd: “Bale is a wonderful player. I understand the Real Madrid board is working hard to assemble the best team possible. But the price is too high.

“Tottenham overestimates the price of Bale.”

The Spanish giants seem set to spend in the region of £100m – probably including players in part-exchange – on signing the Welsh star.

    Dear Mr Raul,
You were a good footballer, but that doesn’t make you Yoda. So let me explain this to you:
Gareth Bale is not ‘overpriced’ he is priced exactly how Tottenham value him based on two facts. Firstly, Spurs do not need to sell him and do not want to sell him, therefore they are deliberately setting a fee to reflect this – in effect, it is a deliberately incredibly high fee. Secondly, he will generate a large amount of money via marketing and sponsoring – Mr Perez has been very upfront about the investment value of purchasing him. Spurs could earn considerably more money via these means AND qualifying for Champions League, on a yearly basis than Real Madrid are offering to pay on a yearly basis over six years. In short, if Real Madrid want him that desperately, it is only right that they pay an exhorbitant fee, and up front, and if they don’t like that/can’t afford that they should clear off and stop publicly unsettling/tapp ing up another club’s player.
Glad I could clear that up for you.
