Wigan have had a bid for Sunderland winger James McClean accepted.

The Black Cats have agreed to sell the Republic of Ireland international for an undisclosed fee, the Press Association reports.

The former Derry City player burst onto the scene under Martin O’Neill in the second half of the 2011/12 season, but struggled to make the same impact last term.

It appears that new manager Paolo Di Canio is not a fan. Having signed Juventus winger Emanuele Giaccherini, it looks like he is prepared to allow McClean to move.
