Real Betis youngster Alvaro Vadillo is being linked with a move to Tottenham as a long-term replacement for Gareth Bale.
The 18-year-old was reported to be a Spurs target last month, and Spanish newspaper Marca has reported that the interest has intensified as Bale edges nearer to the exit.
No bid has been made yet, but the reports suggest that Spurs are ready to open preliminary negotiations with the Spanish outfit ahead of a possible deal.
Vadillo has a £17.3m release clause. While Daniel Levy would want to secure his signature for much less than that, Betis are keen to hold out for the best price.
Club president Miguel Guillen indicated he is in no rush to sell the young star.
He said: “The club’s intention is that Vadillo shall stay at Betis. For us to allow our young prodigy to depart, there would have to be a very strong financial benefit for the club.
“Vadillo has a great future in front of him, and we are very excited thinking about what he is going to bring to us during this coming season.”
