Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has been named Barclays Player of the Month for August, while Brendan Rodgers picked up the Manager of the Month award.
The Reds’ excellent start to the season has left them top of the table with three wins for their first three games, although they only played two games in August
Sturridge has scored the winning goals to secure victories against Stoke City and Aston Villa. He did the same against champions Manchester United, although that match was played on September 1.
As the only manager with a 100 per cent start to the season, Rodgers was the obvious pick for the managerial award.
