Andre Villas Boas says it is time to move on from Gareth Bale and start expecting to see brilliance from Christian Eriksen instead.
The Tottenham manager made it clear that he sees Eriksen as someone who can develop into a player who is equally important to the club as the recently departed Welshman.
He said: “What we do in the transfer market is with the expectancy of these players becoming world stars and I think what happened with Christian is a bit like that happened with like Wesley Sneijder and Rafael van der Vaart when they were at Ajax.
“They reach a moment in their career where they become extremely important for their team and the club who goes and gets them does a great transfer move.
“We expect great things of Christian Eriksen. So, at the moment, we would like to develop him into becoming that type of important player for us as well.”
On Bale, he added: “We lost a wonderful footballer who gave us so much last and we wish him all the best. What we have to do is to move on.”
