Tottenham are planning to bring AC Milan striker Stephan El Shaarawy to White Hart Lane in January, according to reports in the Sunday People.
Andre Villas Boas is said to want to invest a large chunk of Gareth Bale’s transfer fee in the 20-year-old Italy international.
Spurs want extra firepower following the arrival of Roberto Soldado from Valencia this summer. With Emmanuel Adebayor training with the youth team and Jermain Defoe out of favour, Villas Boas is short on out-and-out strikers.
He will seek to remedy that in January.
While £20m-plus rated El Shaarawy is one target, a move for Juventus forward Fernando Llorente could prove more fruitful.
Milan are known to be keen on keeping El Shaarawy’s partnership with Mario Balotelli intact.
