Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil and his new team-mate Per Mertesacker were both on the scoresheet for Germany’s 0-3 away win against the Faroe Islands last night.
Per Mertesacker got as close as Per Mertesacker is ever likely to get to ghosting in at the back post, sticking out a long leg to guide Jerome Boateng’s flick-on into the net and give Germany the lead.
Then it was the turn of the £42.4m man.
He coolly slotted a penalty into the bottom left corner.
After the match, Ozil revealed that he was now looking forward to linking up with his new club.
2 x 3:0 – i had a wonderful time at the national team. Now i am looking forward to London.
