Newcastle striker Shola Ameobi has done a bit of a Rickie Lambert by scoring his first international goal at the age of 31.
The Magpies forward scored the third goal in Nigeria’s 4-1 win over Burkina Faso yesterday.
He held off the Burkina Faso defence to turn and fire the ball home.
He told BBC Sport: “I have finally scored and I am very happy with the goal.
“I’ve wanted it to go like that for a long time and for it to have gone like that was a dream come true.”
Ameobi was playing fourth game for the Super Eagles. He made his senior international debut last November having previously represented England Under-21s at the start of his career.
