Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira said he is said to see Germany international team-mate Mesut Ozil leave the club to join Arsenal.
The pair came through the Germany Under-21 ranks together and both joined Real in the summer of 2010. Khedira revealed that he is disappointed that a close friend is moving away, but equally concerned that he will be a loss for Real.
He said: “I personally, of course, find it sad to see Mesut going away, as I have just said earlier before. We have been and we still are very, very good friends and we have strengthened this friendship during our time in Madrid. And seen from the athletic view, I think that this can be a loss, because Mesut again and again has made the difference – and can make the difference.
“But it is his personal decision and I have to accept this, so has the club.”
Khedira was himself the subject of a late bid from Manchester United, but the deadline day offer was rejected by Real.
