Arsene Wenger has told Arsenal’s annual general meeting that he is pleased the club is now spending money again.
He acknowledges that the Gunners had to curb their spending as they paid for the move to the Emirates Stadium, but says they have no emerged from that period.
He said: “We were restricted financially, we had to be strict. We ame out of that and have huge ambition to win league this season.
“We have to defend our style of play and our values. That comes from developing our own players.
“We have to trust our eye. Players are unknown, come here and become big here. We have to trust our scouting and coaching.
“The third priority is to buy proven quality. You don’t need scout to buy Ozil, just money.
“I’m pleased we’ve shown you we’re not afraid to spend.”
