Manchester City are ready to recall young right-back Reece Wabara from his loan spell at Doncaster and give him a chance to impress in the Premier League.

City are pleased with the progress the 21-year-old has been making with the Championship and are ready to let him challenge Pablo Zabaleta for a spot in the first-team.

The England Under-20 international will also be handed a new contract to mark his improvement.

Wabara’s current deal expires at the end of the season, but he is expected to be offered a new long-term contract when he returns to the Etihad in January.

The Daily Mirror reports that City are keen to bring some of their youngsters into the first-team squad.

Wabara previously caught the eye with a goal against Liverpool during Oldham’s FA Cup run last season.
