Tottenham are preparing to reward Andros Townsend for his excellent start to the season with a three-fold increase in his salary.
With the winger now making waves on the international scene, Spurs are determined to tie their youngster down. And that will mean a considerable increase to his £10,000-a-week wages.
The 22-year-old has three years left to run on his current contract, but the club will use his pay-rise to ensure that he commits to another five years at White Hart Lane.
The new deal will see Townsend pocket an annual salary of almost £2m.
Having made an impression in the Premier League and the Europa League with his outstanding performances so far this season, Townsend was already likely to be offered a new deal by the north London club.
But there is a new sense of urgency after he grabbed the headlines with a stunning goal and man of the match performance for England in their 4-1 win over Montnegro on Friday.
