Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan will get a chance to impress USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann in the qualifier against Panama.
With qualification secured, Klinsmann has allowed Tim Howard to return to Everton and will give Guzan a rare start.
The 29-year-old said: “For me, every game I get is important. It is a huge chance to not only play but to prove to my teammates and to the coaches that I can be counted on and step in and hopefully do a job for the team.”
Sunderland striker Jozy Altidore says the squad has grown since Klinsmann took charge.
He said: “I think the team has grown a lot. We have all had to adjust a bit including Jurgen getting used to us and us getting used to him.
“I think you see the benefits in a team that is playing good soccer. We are playing for each other. And everybody feels they have to do their part and I think that’s important”
