Fulham’s ex-Man Utd star Dimitar Berbatov wanted by Barcelona
Barcelona are weighing up a surprise transfer move for Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov.
The Bulgarian star has been far from his best for the Cottagers so far this season.
But Barca boss Gerardo Martino believes Berbatov can add some guile and goals to his team while Lionel Messi is out of the team.
The Daily Express reports that, while Neymar and Alexis Sanchez are Messi’s natural replacements, the former Tottenham and Manchester United star is a possible target as emergency cover.
The Catalan giants will only pursue the deal if they can keep costs down.
Barbatov, aged 32, is out of contract at the end of the season and could be available for a nominal fee in January if he indicates that he does not intend to sign a new contract.
Messi is out for around two months with a hamstring tear.
