Erik Lamela ‘wants to leave’ Tottenham on loan

Spurs winger Erik Lamela wants to leave the club on loan to guarantee his place at next summer’s World Cup.

The £30m has failed to make an impression in the Premier League since joining from Roma in the summer.

And now he wants to temporarily quit White Hart Lane to ensure he is involved in Argentina’s squad for Brazil 2014, the Daily Mirror reports.

The 21-year-old is said to have asked for a loan move before Andre Villas Boas was sacked.

He is keen to play every week, which is not currently the case at Spurs, where he has made just three Premier League starts so far this season.

Having reportedly expressed his frustrations at his lack of action, Lamela is now a target for top European sides including Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan.

But Spurs are likely to rebuff their advances and hope to keep their marquee signing at the club.

If the lad can only keep on his feet instead of diving every 2 minutes, he’d be one of the best in the world.

Mohamed your right I feel he needs to play every week so he can play himself in form potentially he’s our best player but now Tim Sherwoods around Im worried for Erik’s career at Spurs he’ll be replaced by Stuart Downing lol

Lamela dives and it’s a real shame. I was at the game on Boxing Day and I had a perfect view of Lamela diving after working hard to get into a great crossing position. Everyone around me was booing him. He doesn’t understand English football yet.

Of course, Gareth Bale never dived!
