Paris St-Germain are planning January bids for Premier League duo Juan Mata and Yohan Cabaye, plus Juventus’ Paul Pogba, according to reports in the French media.
L’Equipe claims PSG want to strengthen for the second half of the season with moves for out-of-favour Chelsea playmaker Mata and Newcastle midfielder Cabaye.
Mata has struggled to win a regular spot in the Blues’ starting lineup since Jose Mourinho returned to the club.
And Cabaye was keen to move to a Champions League club in the summer, but he failed to force through a switch to Arsenal. He might consider a return to his homeland coupled with the prospect of playing in Europe’s top club competition to be an attractive one.
He would be available to play a part for the French champions in the knockout stages of this season’s tournament.
Mata, on the other hand, would be cup-tied having played Champions League football for Chelsea already this season. That makes a January deal for Mata less likely than the Cabaye transfer.
The France international recently told BeIN Sport: “As far as I know, there has been no contact with Paris Saint-Germain. Who wouldn’t want to join PSG today?
“Paris make other teams afraid in Europe, more so than last season. I really hope they win the Champions League.”
