West Ham have reported Fulham to the Premier League over allegations that the Cottagers tapped up Ravel Morrison.

The complaint relates to comments made by Fulham boss Rene Meulensteen that seemed to indicate that he had already sounded out the former Manchester United midfielder about a move to Craven Cottage without having permission to speak to him from the Hammers.

Asked whether the England Under-21 international would want to make the move, Meulensteen said: “I have known him a long time. Yes. He does want to come here.”

His comments have been defended by the club.

A Fulham statement said: “All Rene Meulensteen did in the press conference as far as we are concerned is tell the truth.”

Fulham’s £4m bid for Morrison was rejected by the Upton Park hierarchy.
