Aaron Ramsey will miss this weekend’s north London derby after suffering a fresh injury setback, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed.
The Gunners were expecting to welcome the Welsh midfielder back into the fold at Tottenham, but Ramsey will now miss the game after breaking down in training.
Wenger said: “We have had to defer his comeback to full training so he is not available.
“He is having difficulties in the final stages of his rehab. It looks to be short term.”
Ramsey, who was in excellent form during the early stages of this season, has been out since Boxing Day with a thigh problem.
He was closing in on a return to action at the end of January before aggravating a previous calf injury during the later stages of his rehabilitation.
The news that he has again picked up on injury so close to a comeback is a massive blow to both club and player.
