Injured Arsenal star Theo Walcott says he will buy cupcakes for two Spurs-supporting stretcher-bearers who were pelted with coins after he made a 2-0 gesture to the crowd.
The incident happened in January as Walcott was stretchered off during the FA Cup third round clash between the north London rivals.
The Gunners winger gestured the scoreline to the crowd and was promptly the target of a considerable amount of loose change.
Talking about the incident, he said: “I loved doing the gesture, it was a bit of fun.
“But the stretcher guys are both Spurs fans and they actually said ‘can you stop now?’ and I did stop the gesture eventually. I’ll buy them cupcakes or something or say sorry!”
The two Spurs fans who were carrying the stretcher took to Facebook to complain about being inadvertently targeted by their own fans.
One reportedly suffered concussion and another hurt his knee. More on that here.
