Manchester United striker Danny Welbeck is the latest player in David Moyes’ squad to have his future called into question.
Newspaper reports suggest that the England international could be moved on in the summer as part of a radical overhaul of the United squad.
United are set to spend up to £200m to rebuild their failing setup. Although the focus of that spending will be the midfield and defence, Moyes has also been linked with strikers.
The Daily Mail claims Everton and Newcastle would be at the front of the queue if the 23-year-old is offloaded at the end of the season.
The reports also suggest that Welbeck might lose his place in the England squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup, with the United man set to be the fall guy if West Ham’s Andy Carroll does enough to impress manager Roy Hodgson before the end of the season.
Welbeck was on the scoresheet for United’s 0-3 win at West Brom yesterday.
