Spurs get bonus payment after Real Madrid’s Champions League win
Tottenham will pocket a bonus payment from Real Madrid after their Champions League success.
Spurs inserted a clause in Luka Modric’s deal that entitled them to an additional payment if the Spanish giants reached the Champions League final during the Croatian’s time at the club, according to The Times.
With Real have lifted the trophy, the north Londoners will now receive that payment – but they are probably regretting not making a similar arrangement as part of the Gareth Bale deal last summer.
The report claims that there were £5.5m of add-ons on top of the Croatian’s £27.8m fee in the deal Spurs struck with Real in 2012.
It is not clear what percentage of that figure relates to the Champions League success.
