Cristiano Ronaldo trying to talk Man United and Arsenal target Angel Di Maria into staying
Cristiano Ronaldo is trying to talk Angel Di Maria into staying at Real Madrid amid interest from Manchester United and Arsenal, according to reports in Spain.
The midfielder was heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint Germain after the World Cup but the French club pulled out of any possible deal due to fears over Financial Fair Play.
Reports linking Di Maria with United and Arsenal continue to persist, though, especially after comments from Old Trafford boss Louis van Gaal who said his side were lacking a winger of the 26-year-old’s class.
El Confidencial report that Ronaldo believes Di Maria is a vital part of the team and is doing all he can to convince him to remain – just as he did last year when it again looked like the player would be on his way out of the club.
Senior Real officials want to cash in on the player while his stock is high, though coach Carlo Ancelotti is keen to keep hold of him.
United have reportedly offered a fee in the region of £50m for the star.
