Man Utd handed boost in chase for Angel Di Maria after PSG rule out move
Manchester United have been handed a massive boost in the race to sign Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria after Paris Saint Germain confirmed they were no longer in the running.
The French club revealed their transfer business was now complete – leaving United in the clear to sign the Argentine attacker.
The Red Devils are thought to have tabled a £50m bid for the star as they wait for an official response from the Spanish giants.
And United will have been boosted by comments from the French champions yesterday.
Following PSG’s game against Bastia, PSG’s president Nasser Al Khelaifi said: “We are in a good place. I am happy with the players we have. For me, it [the window] is over.”
Al Khelaifi previously said Di Maria was too expensive for the club due to Financial Fair Play restrictions. “We discussed Angel Di Maria with Real Madrid. He was very expensive and we have stopped discussions,” he said.
United remain hopeful a deal for Di Maria will be agreed but it is by no means a certainty with Real coach Carlo Ancelotti and star player Cristiano Ronaldo wanting to keep the player, while the board are happy to cash in.
