PSV’s Memphis Depay rejects new contract as Spurs close in
Memphis Depay has rejected a new contract at PSV sparking rumours he is ready to join Tottenham, according to reports.
Spurs reportedly lodged a £15m bid earlier this month, which was rejected by the Dutch club.
And now, according to the Mirror, Depay has rejected the chance to extend his stay with PSV by turning down a contract extension.
The 20-year-old midfielder is believed to be weighing up his options and has interested clubs across Europe following his impressive showing with the Netherlands at the World Cup.
Depay has been tipped as a target for Louis Van Gaal at Manchester United but he believes the player needs more time to develop and is unlikely to make a move for the player.
The player scored 13 goals for PSV last season and is thought to be keen on a move to the Premier League.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is keen to add to his squad and rates Depay highly.
The White Hart Lane club, though, needs to ship players out before making more signings as they look to trim down their squad.
