Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas makes dig at Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger
Chelsea playmaker Cesc Fabregas has made a thinly veiled dig at his former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger by saying the Frenchman’s bitter rival Jose Mourinho made him feel wanted.
The former Gunners captain spoke to Wenger about a possible return but was given the cold shoulder despite the club having first refusal on taking back their former idol.
Following the snub Fabregas decided to take Mourinho up on his offer and ended up joining the Blues from Barcelona for £32m.
“I felt valued when I spoke to the boss [Mourinho],” he told Uefa.com. “He made me feel I would be a very important player in the team.
“Then you write the team down when you’re at home and you say: ‘Wow this a great team.’ It was a very interesting project with Oscar, Hazard, Cahill, Azpilicueta.
“It was a project that really made me think that it would be good to come here and take up a new challenge in my life and career. I hope that it goes well.”
