Chelsea’s Filipe Luis accepts position on bench
Filipe Luis concedes that he deserves to be on the bench in light of Cesar Azpilicueta’s strong performances at left-back.
The full-back was signed by Jose Mourinho over the summer from Atletico Madrid but has found game time hard to come by despite his credentials of winning La Liga and being a Champions League finalist last term.
The Brazilian, though, says he is happy to wait for an opportunity to show what he can.
“I don’t think about it too much. I am ready to help the team whenever they need me but I know that currently I have Azpilicueta ahead of me,” he told Spanish radio Cope.
“He is a great defender. He can play both on the left side and on the right and I cannot say anything about that. I can only work and wait for my opportunity to help my team.
“I like London. I am very happy. The Premier League is completely different to La Liga but I am already settled.
“We are in a really good moment but the season is very long. We have to keep like this. We know that with our offensive power we can create many chances up front so we just have to keep being solid in the back-line.”
