Man Utd star Angel Di Maria’s control and passing questioned by Carlo Ancelotti
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has taken a swipe at Manchester United star Angel Di Maria.
The Argentina international quit the Bernabeu to sign for United in the summer. Now, Ancelotti has questioned his former charge’s control and passing ability.
He insinuated that Di Maria’s energetic displays mask a lack of technique.
Ancelotti told Spanish radio show Al Primer Toque last night: “Di Maria stole matches with his energy he has, but sometimes he lost control and failed in some important passes.
“I wasn’t nervous when Alonso and Di Maria left. I already got Toni Kroos.”
Di Maria burst onto the Premier League scene after joining United in August, but his form has dipped in recent weeks.
Many United fans were particularly unimpressed with his display against Manchester City in the derby game.
That probably gives extra bite to Ancelotti’s suggestion that Di Maria can sometimes fail when it matters.
