Chelsea’s Gary Cahill could face retrospective action for kicking Spurs hero Harry Kane
Chelsea defender Gary Cahill could face retrospective action after lashing a kick into the back of Tottenham hero Harry Kane during yesterday’s incredible 5-3 win for the White Hart Lane outfit.
The former Bolton centre-back, frustrated at being given the run around by a Kane inspired Spurs, who were leading 4-2 at the time, lost the plot and smashed the 21-year-old’s back as he lay on the floor shielding the ball.
Cahill, who threw in a stamp for good measure, somehow went unpunished by referee Phil Dowd and the fourth official who was standing just feet away.
After writhing in agony Kane had the last word, though, and managed to continue his torment of the Blues with him setting up Nacer Chadli for Spurs’ fifth goal.
Mauricio Pochettino said after the game that Kane’s back was sore following the kick and Cahill could now face sanctions from the FA.
