Liverpool join race for Braga’s Danilo Barbosa
Liverpool are the latest team to join the race for Braga holding midfielder Danilo, according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo.
The Reds were in the crowd for Braga’s win over Estoril on Sunday evening, and we guessed that Danilo might be the subject of the scouting mission.
The latest information from O Jogo indicates that the 18-year-old Brazilian was indeed the intended target.
Liverpool’s scout reportedly watched the game with a representative from Gestifute, the company linked to agent Jorge Mendes, who are third-party owners of Danilo after financing his €4.5m transfer from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama last summer. The Reds had been credited with interest during Danilo’s time at Vasco.
He has made an impression since his arrival in Portugal, having forced himself into the first-team and made 12 appearances so far.
His achievements have also caught the eye of Serie A champions Juventus, who are said to have started making moves to sign the Brazil Under-21 international.
O Jogo suggests a fee of €15m will be needed to land the highly-rated prospect.
Braga will only be entitled to 10 per cent of any capital gains from the deal, with Gestifute banking the rest of the fee.
