Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers reveals he watches videos of 12-year-old Philippe Coutinho playing futsal
How does Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers unwind after watching Philippe Coutinho fire his side to victory in yet another Premier League game? By going home and watching videos of Coutinho playing futsal as a 12-year-old, it seems.
The Reds boss revealed his intimate knowledge of Coutinho’s futsal showreel when discussing what the Brazilian playmaker brings to his squad.
He told Liverpool’s official website: “What he gives to the team, he offers that gold dust to how we play. He’s a wonderful player.
“If you see his videos on YouTube, playing futsal when he was 11 or 12 in Brazil, he’s playing the same game now only as an adult.
“We knew he had ability, it was just about trusting that ability and allowing it to grow.”
Coutinho is arguably in the form of his life at the moment (although Rodgers might claim he has seen him playing better for his futsal team in the past). You can get a taste of what Rodgers has been watching in the video above.
