Recently released Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has turned down a move to Turkish side Besiktas, according to The Sun.
The England right-back, aged 30, is available on a free transfer after his contract with the Reds expired last month.
Johnson and his former club were unable to reach agreement on a new contract, with the Reds unwilling to match the bumper pay packet of the full-back’s old deal.
The report suggests that West Ham – Johnson’s first club – are keen to snap up their former youth team player.
Although Johnson turned down the Besiktas approach, he is said to favour a move abroad but could yet take up the Hammers’ offer or stay in England with another club.
His return to Upton Park could be off the agenda if Slaven Bilic’s side secure the services of Arsenal right-back Carl Jenkinson for a second successive season.
Johnson has been training on his own and posted a video to his Instagram account to show him working in the gym.
