Neymar open to Man Utd move
Barcelona superstar Neymar is open to the possibility of a transfer to Manchester United, according to The Guardian.
United were linked with a bid to sign the Brazil star, with speculation mounting after one of the 23-year-old’s representatives turned up in the directors’ box at Old Trafford for yesterday’s Premier League game against Newcastle United.
The report claims there is a long-term strategy to sign Neymar and, although they would love to add him to Louis van Gaal’s squad before the transfer window closes next week, are prepared to bide their time until next summer when they feel it would be easier to finalise the deal.
Indeed, it is claimed that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward’s recent trips to Barcelona have been to work on the Neymar deal and not, as was thought, to sign Pedro.
But United are also said to be wary that Neymar could be the latest star to use their spending power and eagerness to make marquee signings to secure a lucrative new contract at his current club.
His current deal runs until June 2018.
