Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has been forced off with an injury in the opening stages of his side’s Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven – and it looks very much like the youngster has broken his leg.
The 20-year-old had to be stretchered off at the Philips Stadion following a challenge by PSV’s Hector Moreno that appeared to leave his right leg bent badly out of shape.
United’s official Twitter account noted that the England international “looks badly hurt” before he was replaced by Marcos Rojo.
Shaw has been Louis van Gaal’s starting left-back and in excellent form in the early stages of the season, so the injury will be a big worry for United’s fans and backroom staff alike.
If the injury is as bad as it looks, the former Southampton man’s hopes of going to Euro 2016 with England are also in serious doubt.
15' – A brilliant run forward from Shaw is ended by a crunching challenge by Moreno, and unfortunately the #mufc defender looks badly hurt.
