Chelsea set to sack Antonio Conte, bookies believe
Some bookmakers have suspended betting on Chelsea manager Antonio Conte getting the sack, while others have slashed their odds on Roman Abramovich giving the Italian coach the chop.
Conte has only been in charge since July, but has come under pressure after a run of poor results.
He was reportedly absent from the Blues’ Cobham training base today, where his players returned to action after the international break, and was instead at Stamford Bridge.
A flurry of bets on Conte being shown the door this afternoon led to bookies taking action – and there now seems to be a consensus that the former Juventus and Italy boss is in danger.
Betway and Paddy Power have both closed their markets on Conte being sacked, while the odds of him losing his job have tumbled from 33/1 to 6/1 with other bookies.
Conte’s Chelsea were held to a draw by Swansea, before losing back-to-back Premier League games against Liverpool and Arsenal to go through September without a single league win.
