Karim Benzema linked with Arsenal transfer
Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema could join Arsenal next summer, according to the Daily Star.
The 29-year-old France international has been linked with the Gunners since emerging at Lyon. He instead made the move to Madrdi in 2009, but could belatedly make the move to the Emirates Stadium.
During his time in Spain, Benzema has scored 181 goals in 371 appearances in all competitions.
But Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to be concerned by the team’s sluggish start in front of goal this season. Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Juventus’ Paulo Dybala are named as players Perez would like to bring to the Bernabeu to bolster the attack.
Griezmann, who has a £91m release clause, is said to be the preferred option. If either Griezmann or Dybala do arrive, Benzema could be allowed to move on.
Perez reportedly had his transfer plans curtailed by coach Zinedine Zidane in the summer, but will not allow that to happen again next summer.
