Liverpool appeal against Sadio Mane’s ban length after red card vs Man City
Liverpool are appealing against the length of Sadio Mane’s ban for his red card against Manchester City, according to the BBC.
The Senegal international was sent off in the first half of the 5-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium after catching City goalkeeper Ederson in the face with a high boot. The Brazilian had to be substituted after Mane challenge.
Mane has been given a standard three-match ban for the dismissal. At present he is due to miss Premier League matches against Burnley and Leicester, as well as a trip to the Foxes in the EFL Cup.
But if successful, the appeal could see the ban reduced to one or two games.
Mane has been a key player for the Reds so far this season and was named Premier League player of the month for August, so manager Jurgen Klopp will be keen to have him available for as many of the fixtures as possible.
