After an initial outpouring of sympathy from Manchester City fans, some rather sad stories have come out in the tabloids regarding Roberto Mancini’s reign at Eastlands. Papers have spoken of players wanting to go out and celebrate the sacking of a man they saw as vain, egotistical and dictatorial.
However, it appears that Mancini has scored a last minute PR winner, with the Italian taking out a full-page advert in the Manchester Evening News. It thanks fans for ‘three unforgettable years’ with pictures of the trophies Mancini won, namely, FA Cup, Community Shield and Premier League.
A nice touch, but City fans should not thank their former manager for calling the Community Shield a trophy (it isn’t, the FA doesn’t officially recognise it as a competitive match), because on that basis David Moyes is likely to win his first trophy in his first match at Manchester United, and that won’t sit too well.
AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli says there were obviously problems at Manchester City that led to the club failing to retain the Premier League title and to the sacking of manager Roberto Mancini.

Stephen Aziz took to Twitter to vent his frustrations at the wave of sympathy from City fans for their outgoing manager.
Aziz, who is now employed by Sunderland, described is former colleague as “arrogant, vain and self-centred”, which does sound rather like our vision of Mancini behind the scenes.
Unsurprisingly, Mancini or his advisors have not commented on the quotes.
