FC Utrecht score dreadful own goal

FC Utrecht didn’t have the greatest first half against AZ Alkmaar at the weekend. Ex-Hull City striker Jozy Altidore had already scored a hat-trick when the away side made things worse for themselves when defender Mike van der Hoorn scored a ridiculous own goal just before the break.

The ball was crossed into the box, where van der Hoorn had enough time to clear the ball. Instead, he managed to bundle the ball into his own net.

You know you have made a bad error when the referee checks if you are ok.

AZ Alkmaar won the game 6-0, which was something of a shock given that they were 21 points behind their opponents before the match.
