When I was asked if I fancied a trip to London to watch Barnet v Cambridge United as a guest of the league sponsors, Skrill, my first reaction was “is it free?”. As soon as that was established, I booked the date in.

We all know the difficulty of buying wedding presents. A side plate for £20 just doesn’t seem appropriate for a mate that you have known for much of your life, and so you want to try and think slightly out of the box.
That was certainly the case with John Aves, whose friends decided to surprise him buying the dugout of his favourite football team.
Aves used to work as a physio and club secretary at the non-league club, and therefore his mates realised they couldn’t miss the opportunity when they discovered that the club was auctioning off parts of their Milton Road ground.
To be honest, we’re quite surprised that his new wife took the gift so happily, because it is a certain line in the sand when you are getting football memorabilia as wedding presents.
