To be fair to Lyon goalkeeper Remy Vercoutre, the backpass he receives in this video is a bit on the short side. Sadly his sidefooted pass to an onrushing FC Metz attacker is inch perfect. D’oh!
There was absolutely nothing any goalkeeper could have done about Remy Mareval’s strike for Nantes against Marseille in midweek. In fact, I doubt very much if a defender on the post could have done anything - at least not without having his head knocked off. You could say it was Mareval-ous strike.
