When football pitches explode
Australia’s Asian Cup qualifier against Oman was pretty bad-tempered throughout, so when a firecracker went off just metres away from players from both sides it didn’t really help to cool the situation.

If you thought it was Waltzing Matilda prepare to be disappointed
Australia’s Dutch coach Pim Verbeek was so keen to integrate himself in Aussie life that he drank his bodyweight in Foster’s and hypnotised a stray cow promised to sing the national anthem, Advance Australia Fair, on TV if they qualified for the 2010 World Cup. [...]

Uzbekistan’s hardcore training is in vain
The Socceroos have become the first side to qualify for next year’s World Cup in South Africa after a 2-0 win over Uzbekistan. A goal from Josh Kennedy (no relation to Dr Karl) and a Harry Kewell penalty gave Australia the victory they needed to secure qualification with three games [...]

Hardcore training with Uzbekistan national team
This video seems to be fake, but I can’t workout why someone would go to the effort of creating it. The spiel on YouTube says this is the Uzbekistan national team in training. The point being that Australia had better be worried about their upcoming match given the accuracy of [...]
