Bayern boss takes a tumble
Arjen Robben’s winner for Bayern Munich against Werder Bremen was so good that coach Louis Van Gaal felt the need to run headfirst into the ground. Luckily they didn’t add a fourth and the Dutchman didn’t get the opportunity to inflict further self-harm.

Clash of the slight ‘uns
Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben had a spot of handbags with team-mate Philipp Lahm after the Germany international tried to return him to his natural habitat of the treatment room. Lahm’s crunching tackle did not best please the delicate Dutchman, who dished out a couple of brutal pushes and a shrug [...]

The Champ-yaaarns do do do-do doooooo
Its back. The biggest tournament in club football, the ultimate prize: The Champions League. Although we’ve already had the qualifying rounds, this week is where we really get under way with the group stages. The majestic theme music, the multi screen coverage and, thankfully, this season no David Pleat commentary.

With team-mates like Bayern Munich’s who needs enemies?
You should know to expect plenty of japes when the Pink Panther is your team-mate. But an unsuspecting Luca Toni was quietly going about his training at a Bayern Munich open day when he received a swift kick from the testicles from Franck Ribery.

Terry Henry Dental Practitioner
Bayern Munich’s physios had to tape goalkeeper Hans-Jörg Butt after a sliding Thierry Henry kicked him in the head. Could he have tucked his studs out of the way a bit more more? He sort of pushes off Butt’s face as if he was a swimming baths wall.
Reverse angle after the jump. [...]

1. That ought to be enough for Chelsea. I can’t see Liverpool scoring three without reply at Stamford Bridge.
2. Branislav Ivanovic’s monk head was probably the last body part I expected to settle this tie.
3. Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink was not leading us on a wild Guus chase when he promised to attack Liverpool. And [...]

Why didn’t Maradona finish the dribble against England with a backheel?
Oh, this is just beautiful! Wolfsburg’s Grafite beats three defenders on a mazy run. Another defender and the goalkeeper come to help tackle the roaming attacker, so he casually beats them all with a deft reverse of the ball which rolls into the opposite side [...]
