After Artur Boruc’s nightmare against Hibs at the weekend, Celtic proved that what goes around come around. The Glasgow club benefited from some very generous goalkeeping by Villarreal’s Viera, who kindly gave an underhit cross the near-post flick-on it needed to reach Shaun Maloney.

Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc was the fall-guy as a plan by Hibernian’s John Rankin and Derek Riordan to embarrass the SPL’s keepers came into fruition. Rankin scored from just inside Celtic’s half to secure victory for Hibs.
He said: “The boys were asking why I was shooting from the ark, but I’ve been practising with Derek 45-yard squigglers as we call them. To be fair, it did squiggle. I don’t know if that helped me or if it was a goalkeeping mistake.”

We do not know whether Celtic’s Gary Caldwell was trying to bury his head in shame after his side conceded a third goal or whether his move towards Wayne Rooney’s backside was not football related.

A Rangers fan returned from a birthday weekend away to find his house, garden and even wheelie bin had been painted in green-and-white hoops by his prankster mates.
