1. Nicklas Bendtner and Mame Biram Diouf could potentially form the country’s most lethal strike partnership.
2. The timing of FIFA’s decision to reject goal-line technology yet again was absolutely impeccable. Just ask David James.
3. If BBC 6 Music and Asian Network are getting scrapped to save the Beeb money, surely the Portsmouth fan club subscriptions [...]

Ageing keeper population
In his commentary last night, John Motson praised Wolves keeper Marcus Hahnemann for getting down to save a low shot considering he will be 38 this summer. But did the American deserve the special disclaimer? After all, he wasn’t even the oldest Premier League goalkeeper playing last night.
Edwin Van Der Sar remains Manchester [...]

Portsmouth refuse to make life easy for themselves
Portsmouth (possibly Tottenham before the end of January) keeper David James has been working on his blindfolded goalkeeping. The England international added a little light bondage to his kinky afro, and comments that it: “Feels nice.”
He then gets down to business.

West Ham keeper sent-off for England
Poor old Rob Green was sent-off 14 minutes into England’s World Cup qualifier in Ukraine after being played into trouble by Rio Ferdinand (too casual yet again). Fortunately for England, Andriy Shevchenko missed the subsequent spot-kick after David James had come on to replace Aaron Lennon. See the penalty after [...]

“You’ve started to fear the robot!”
Comedian James Corden, of Gavin and Stacey fame, met the England squad before their recent match against Spain to record a sketch for Comic Relief. Corden’s character Smithy is apparently in the England hotel on a plumbing job but ends up giving a motivational speech to the team.
The full sketch [...]

Must have been the video games again
Portsmouth were knocked out of the Uefa Cup last night after this trademark clanger from David James. The England international - who seemed to have ironed most of the mistakes out of his game with age - can claim an assist after passing the ball straight to Zvjezdan Misimovic [...]
