Wayne Rooney vented his anger at booing England supporters as he left the pitch following last night’s disappointing 0-0 draw with Algeria.

Rooney and his England team-mates were booed off the pitch after the awful performance. But the Manchester United striker took exception to the treatment and said into a nearby camera: “Nice to see your home fans boo you.”

I can understand Rooney’s frustration at the very quick backlash from a nation whose hopes he is carrying, but if he ever deserved to be booed off the pitch in an England shirt, last night was up there with Portugal.
