Leyton Orient hit Las Vegas to celebrate Arsenal draw
Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn has honoured a promise made in the wake of his side’s shock 1-1 FA Cup draw with Arsenal and whisked the squad away to Las Vegas.
Hearn had vowed to treat the players to the trip if they held the Gunners to a draw and said he would be keeping his promise after Jonathan Tehoue’s 89th minute equaliser.
The chairman had been up for catching a plane to the US almost immediately, but manager Russell Slade had suggested his players probably ought to be preparing for their match against Huddersfield rather than hitting Vegas.
But with the season now well out of the way, the Os have been painting the town red.
Shortly after Hearn’s promise, Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino chairman Robert Earl offered to host Orient. He has put together a package worth more than $30,000 for the players, including including rooms, spa treatments and dinner at celeb-packed restaurants such as Buca Di Beppo, Koi, the Strip House and Planet Dailies.
Hearn said: “As a very frequent visitor to Las Vegas I am well aware of the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino and the fantastic facilities they have there. The lads and I are having an absolutely brilliant time – they certainly deserve every minute of it.
“I’m a huge fan of the FA Cup. It always throws up great performances from teams like Leyton Orient – the lads put in an unbelievable performance against Arsenal and made their fans proud.”
No doubt pre-season will be all the more painful on the back of this though.
