African artefact set for museum display
Germany coach Joachim Loew’s lucky blue jumper from the 2010 World Cup is to take pride of place in a museum after accumulating several owners in a short space of time.
Loew gave his beloved knitwear to a children’s charity, who pocketed a cool €1 million by flogging it to retailer Galeria Kaufhof. They in turn donated the hand-me-down item to the as yet unopened German football museum, which is due to be completed in 2014.
Loew said: “Look over him well, so he gets no moth holes. Maybe we can still use it – at the World Cup 2018 in Russia’s cold…”
Meanwhile, in a closet somewhere in Germany, Hansi Flick’s matching sweater cries itself to sleep.
