OTP Podcast: Episode 13 – Fergie Stands Tall
Who’s the Premier League’s mystery Twirl buyer?
As Sir Alex Ferguson celebrates his 25th year in charge of Manchester United, the Off The Post Podcast has been receiving similar plaudits for successfully recording the 13th pod of the season. We may not have a stand named after us, but we do have all of this: Belgian pest control at the Emirates, an Azerbaijani stealth punch, a referee getting shirty in the Ukraine, the world’s fastest football league roundup, and another confectionary-based *World Exclusive*.
Of course we’ll also have a roundup of all of the strangest goings on in the Premier League and world football from the past week, we decide what we would give Sir Alex as an anniversary present, and a pod first: we talk about the Football League! Well… Paddy does… for 30 seconds… but it’s a start right?
Chivas goalkeeper Luis Michel playing his own version of Whack-Attack by winding up for a long throw out of his area before letting out an almighty roar and slamming the ball into the opposition player’s face. Bullseye.
What do you do when you’ve just punched another player in the face in the Azerbaijani top flight? Go down and hope the referee awards you a free kick (which in this case he duly did). More of a subtle punch than a sucker punch.
Dnipro’s Samuel Inkoom got a bit too shirty for the referee’s liking in this Ukrainian top tier match-he got his second booking and subsequent red for taking his shirt off on the field of play. It’s the sort of situation a “Why always me?” slogan on the vest is made for-pop one in the post would you Mario?
