OTP Podcast: Episode 21 – Swan-upmanship
Much like Thierry Henry and Paul Scholes (and Jason Euell), the OTP Podcast is back in its rightful place – that place being, of course, one of ignorance, bias and second hand stats.
This week the Pod are full of praise for Swansea’s dismantling of Arsenal, Alex almost explodes as Fernando Torres so nearly scores the goal of 2012 so far, and there’s a futuristic and in no way immature blue sky thinking session on how to end the monumentally boring ‘consistent refereeing’ debate once and for all. So to sum up, just like a mistimed Scholes tackle or Henry scoring a one-on-one, it’s very much business as usual.

Bahia defender Avine is a household name in Brazil for his textbook ‘glancing header goal line clearance’. The poor chap is obviously a bit ring-rusty after the mid-season break however, as he chooses a friendly against Fluminese to show off this unique talent in the opposition’s penalty area.
What does Robbie Fowler get up to when he’s not signing up to play in a footballing version of cricket’s Twenty20 Indian Premier League, I hear you ask? He attends high-stakes internationals between Thailand and Oman and has small children take photographs of the back of his head, obviously…
We’ve all seen it a million times now, but with Ajax’s ill-fated cup game against AZ Alkmaar to be replayed this week attended solely by under-13s, here’s another opportunity to see Alkmaar goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado dishing out a lesson from the Brian Clough school of dealing with pitch invaders. Have some of that.
When he’s not banging in goals or addressing the crowd with a megaphone, there’s nothing Raul likes to do more than listen to Schalke fans’ tribute him whilst driving into training. Pass the bratwurst.
