Tweet ban

The Irish FA has handed a three-game ban to ex-Chelsea striker Leon Knight for comments he posted on Twitter.

Knight’s often outspoken use of the social networking site has raised eyebrows in the past. In fact, nobody is quite sure which comments in particular have landed the Glentoran man in trouble.

He moved from previous club Coleraine to the Glens during the January transfer window after a dispute over an arrangement which saw Knight living in London and the club paying for him to travel to Northern Ireland for matches.

An IFA statement said: “The IFA Disciplinary Committee, having considered the written and verbal evidence provided, decided that Leon Knight be issued with a suspension from Monday 6 February 2012 until Coleraine FC has completed three matches in domestic competitive competition.”

That means he will have to sit out two matches at new club Glentoran until his former team-mates clock-up three competitive matches.
